Perthshire North MSP John Swinney recently visited Perth’s Mountain Warehouse store on South Street to meet with proprietor Alex Tigh, mountaineer James Lamb and members of Perth’s Nepalese community,

The visit was arranged to allow Mr Swinney to see vital equipment before it gets sent out to Nepal to assist communities following the devastating earthquake which hit the country in April this year.

Amongst the supplies are a number of five man tents supplied by manufacture Vanago, high performance sleeping bags and thermal clothing which together will have a tremendous benefit for local families.

Commenting at the visit John Swinney said;

“I’m very pleased this equipment has been secured via Mountain Warehouse in Perth and its suppliers. The difference this equipment will make in Nepal should not be underestimated. There is still a great deal of hardship in Nepal following this earthquake and any help we can give will make a positive difference.”

James Lamb added:

“I am aware of the daily struggle being endured by communities in Nepal and I understood that is was important for us to do what we could to assist. It has been very productive to work with the Nepalese community here in Perth and also Mike Tigh and his team at Mountain Warehouse.”
