Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, has visited Birken Tree – a new business within his constituency.

Founded by husband and wife team Rob and Gabrielle, Birken Tree harvest birch sap from wild birch trees to produce Birchwater. This is a revival of a Highland tradition, opening up commercial opportunities from forestry and delivering health benefits to drinkers.

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“It was a pleasure to meet with Rob and Gabrielle, and to discuss their exciting plans going forward.

“Birchwater is an often-overlooked Highland tradition, and I am therefore pleased that Rob and Gabrielle are seeking to raise awareness of its benefits.

“It was clear from our discussions that they are both exceptionally dedicated and knowledgeable, and I am confident that this passion will lend itself to commercial success.”
