Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, will visit Castle Water this Friday (5 August), following an announcement that the water service company will create 100 new jobs at its Blairgowrie Headquarters.

The major jobs boost, announced in July, follows an agreement between Castle Water and Thames Water that will see retail activities and customer services for 250,000 business clients from Thames Water transfer to Castle Water in April 2017.

Commenting ahead of the visit, Mr Swinney said:

“Castle Water’s expansion is excellent news for the local economy and I am delighted by the significant jobs boost that is coming to Blairgowrie. I am looking forward to meeting the staff currently on site and learning more about the company’s future plans.

“The Scottish Government has made great efforts to make Scotland a “Hydro Nation”, and Castle Water’s expansion will help to build on this work. There is significant potential to expand the country’s hydro economy and I am very pleased that a local water company will play a part in taking this work forward.”

Notes:

Mr Swinney will visit Castle Water’s Headquarters at Craighall Castle (PH10 7HR for sat navs) at 11am on Friday 5 August.
