Perthshire North MSP, Mr John Swinney, today welcomed the Scottish Government’s decision to allocate an extra £10 million to fund road maintenance and repairs, following an extended period of bad weather.

The cash boost will benefit all 32 councils, with details of the distribution to be agreed by the Convention of Local Scottish Authorities (COSLA).

Commenting, Mr Swinney said:

“I am pleased that the Scottish Government has taken quick, decisive action to address the damage that the recent spate of bad weather has caused to our roads.

“This move once again shows that the SNP are committed to tackling road repairs head-on, and that we take seriously the safety and comfort of all road users.”
