The Trussell Trust and FareShare, are hosting another food collection in Tesco’s Blairgowrie store and will be assisted this Saturday [4th Dec] by Perthshire North MSP John Swinney who has welcomed the chance to get involved in the campaign in the run up to Christmas.

Commenting ahead of the event John Swinney said:

“I am very pleased to be able to help again with this drive to get food to those families in our communities who are finding it ever difficult to make ends meet. The generosity of local people for this initiative is always heartening.

“Christmas should be a celebration but for too many families struggling through the recession and benefit cuts this Christmas could present a challenge to put food on the table.

“I am grateful to Tesco for facilitating this event in cooperation with the Trussell Trust and FareShare, two organisations who consistently help those most in need.”

The MSP added:

“This event will run across all Tesco’s large stores in UK and I welcome that Tesco will add 30% to the total value of food donated to Trussell Trust and FareShare.

“I am looking forward to helping out at this event and I would urge everyone to make whatever donation they can so as to help as many families as possible.”
